How to Solve the Audio Endpoint Builder High CPU Issue?
Whatever the causes, it won’t matter if you try these solutions. Any of them will surely resolve the problem.
Solution 1: Run Audio Troubleshooter
First of all, you should troubleshoot the audio function. To do so –
Step 1: Head to Windows Settings by pressing Win + I.
Step 2: Click on Update & Security.
Step 3: Then, locate and select Troubleshoot.
Step 4: Now,click on Additional troubleshooters.
Step 5: Click on Playing Audio and go for Run the troubleshooter.
Step 6: Follow the onscreen instructions.
Solution 2: Update Audio Driver
It’s wise to keep your drivers up to date and the audio driver is no exception. To update your audio driver –
Step 1: Search for update in the search bar.
Step 2: Go for Check for updates, then install the available ones.
Step 3: Now, at the bottom, select View optional updates.
Step 4: Expand the Driver Updates and mark the audio driver update (if available).
Step 5: Now, click on Download and install.
Step 6: Finally, restart the computer.
Solution 3: Reinstall Audio Driver
In case the audio driver update gone wrong or fails, then you can try reinstalling the driver. So –
Step 1: Right-click on the Start menu.
Step 2: Select Device Manager.
Step 3: At the bottom, there’s Sound, video and game controllers section. Expand it.
Step 4: Right-click on your audio driver, then choose to Uninstall device.
Step 5: Now, mark the Delete the driver software for this device, then click on Uninstall.
Step 6: After that, follow the instructions and finish the process.
Step 7: Restart your computer and install the latest version of the audio driver.
Solution 4: Disable the Audio Enhancements
In some cases, disabling the audio enhancements brings good result on this issue. To do so –
Step 1: Locate the Speakers icon in the taskbar and right-click on it.
Step 2: Click on Sounds.
Step 3: Open the Playback tab.
Step 4: Choose the one with a green mark among Headphones and Speakers.
Step 5: Now, click on Properties.
Step 6: Head to the Enhancements tab.
Step 7: Mark the Disable all enhancements and finish the process.
Solution 5: Prevent Applications to Take Control
Sometimes third-party applications fetch problems that occurs this kind of issue. So, it’s better not to give control of the audio devices to them. To prevent them –
Step 1: Again, go to sound Properties.
Step 2: Open the Advanced tab.
Step 3: Unmark the Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device under the Exclusive Mode and finish the process.
Solution 6: Run DISM and SFC
Another suitable solution is to execute DISM and SFC commands. Follow the steps accordingly –
Step 1: Search for Command Prompt in the search bar.
Step 2: Launch it by clicking Run as administrator.
Step 3: After that, type the commands given below and execute them by pressing Enter.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase
net start w32time w32tm/resync
Chkdsk /f /r
Step 4: Press the Y key if you’re prompted.
Step 5: If all the commands are fully executed, restart your computer.
NOTE: You need to let each command finish before going for the next one.
Solution 7: Disable Service
If somehow the aforementioned solutions fails to resolve the issue, then the only solution left is disabling this service –
Step 1: Open the Run window by pressing Win + R.
Step 2: Now, type services.msc and go for it.
Step 3: Locate and right-click on the Windows Audio Endpoint Builder service.
Step 4: Select Properties.
Step 5: Finally, in General tab –
- Set the Startup type as Disabled.
- Click on Stop.
- Finish the task by clicking Apply then OK.
