What is LED Monitor
An LED monitor can be called a subset of the LCD monitor. The basic principles of both types are quite the same. Sometimes it is said that all LED monitors are LCD monitors but all the LCD monitors are not LED at all. The key difference in LED is the backlight. The backlight is made with LED lights and placed at the right side of the panel in the monitor.
In LCD monitors it actually uses Cold-Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL) where LED uses only Light Emitting Diode(LED). This monitor also has different layers of film and sheets which work differently to create clean and smooth images on the screen.
How Does It Work
In the main panel of the LED monitor, there are some LED lights placed at the very right side of the panel and work like the backlight. However, only the LED at the right side of the panel is not enough to distribute enough light all around the screen so a thin reflector film is placed on the backlight.
Another layer comes named “Light Distributor/Light Guide” which is a sheet of film that is fully dotted so that the light can be distributed. Next, a couple of sheets are used called “Indiffusers” which mainly works for diffusing the dotted texture in the picture caused by the Light Guide.
A very thin Prism Sheet is placed over the Indiffusers to enhance every color as well as the brightness of the screen. Finally, the LCD monitor comes which needs the power to activate the thousands of pixels that are present in the LCD monitor along with Liquid Crystal layers and other layers.
