You might be looking for more bandwidth and faster connection speed, and pairing two separate DSL lines to form a single ultra-fast pipe is the ultimate solution. Setting up 1 pair DSL modem is quite easy as most times the phone copy runs a cable with 2 pairs to every house. A spare phone line is provided in case the main one has issues. 

Connecting 2 DSL Modems

Using 2 DSL Modems in one house possible through the aid of a filter and a splitter, provided the condition if you have 2 DSL lines.

In case there’s no direct DSL line built into your wall, connect your DSL modem to a phone line. For two different DSL modems in the same room, you need to plug the two different DSL modems into the same phone line. You’re gonna need a filter and a splitter to do the job.

Follow the steps below to connect 2 DSL modems to the same phone line.

  • First, locate the filter with a larger port, allowing you to connect a DSL cable to the phone line. 
  • Connect the phone line with the DSL filter to the line on your wall. 
  • Next, insert the DSL splitter into the DSL end of the filter. The splitter should include two ethernet ports, and connect the two Ethernet cables to the ports on the splitter.
  • Finally, On the DSL modems, connect the other ends of the cables to the WAN (Wide area network) port. 

Benefits of Having 2 Modems in One House

A two-router network features additional support for more wired devices. For a wired Ethernet kind router, it supports a limited number (four or five) of connected devices. Adding a second router provides more Ethernet ports so that additional computers, making it double that for one modem. 

Also, a second wireless router connected to another existing network can greatly extend its reach and signal range to accommodate far away devices.

To Conclude

You can use cloud-based VPN services to combine the two different DSL lines into a single fast pipe to connect your connections automatically. It’s a simple process that reroutes all your traffic through the available connection until the second DSL line can be combined again.
