PC Won’t Turn on After Build? | What to Do If It Happens?

Last Updated on November 8, 2022 by Jim Eddy Leave a Comment

It’s really a matter of embarrassment if the PC won’t turn on after the build.

Unfortunately, you face the situation at present. But, don’t panic. You are not alone in who faces the problem.

PC Won't Turn on After Build

Moreover, the issue is solvable. In fact, I am writing this article to compile the solutions. I will also include the reasons and patterns of the error. Let’s explore.

Different Pattern of the Error

The featured error may occur in different patterns for different PC. There are at least three patterns of this error. These are-

  • No Signal No Light No Screen: One has just built his PC. Then try to start it by pressing the power button. But nothing happens. There is no signal, no light, or no screen.
  • Signal, Light But No Screen: Another thing may happen while trying to turn on the PC. After pressing the power button, one gets the signal from the CPU, but no screen appears on the monitor.
  • Signal, Light, Screen But Fail to Boot Properly: The last thing may happen after trying to start the newly built PC. It shows signal, light, and even screen, but stops the operation after a while without executing the full startup.

I assume that currently, you are facing one of the patterns of the featured error. Let’s find out the possible reasons first. Then I will attach the possible solution in the last section of this article.

PC Won’t Turn on After Build? – Why the Newly Built PC Won’t Turn On?

Your newly built PC may not turn on for several reasons. Do you have any idea about this?

In cases, if you have no idea, you can switch your problem to my shoulder. Here I discuss the detail of why the error occurred.

RAM Misplacement

The first possible reason that comes to mind is the RAM misplacement or improper placement into the slot. So, when you face the problem, uncover the CPU case and remove the RAM from the slot. After a while, inject it into the slot properly. Hopefully, the error will vanish.

Unplugging Power Supply Cables

The second possible reason can be you do not plug internal and external Power Supply cables. It happens in many cases. So check the connection. Do you plug all the cables exactly or not?

Front Panel Misconnection

The third possible reason that happens sometimes, is the Front Panel misconnection. There are a couple of points here that need to be connected with the motherboard header. These are Power Button, Restart Button, Signal light, etc.

If you connect the Power Button connector into the Signal light header, the PC will not start by any means. So when your newly built PC doesn’t open, check the Front Panel connection. You can resolve the issue by checking this simple step.

Improper Motherboard Standoffs Usage

In general, a motherboard is set up inside the casing by a certain number of standoffs. But somehow, you may miss some of them. This kind of improper standoffs motherboard usage can stop the PC from turning on.

Unexpected CPU Overheating

The last thing that happens with your PC is the CPU may be overheated unexpectedly. It can occur for misplacement or improper placement of the cooling fan. Or it might happen to the scarcity of liquid gel. So, you can check this fact so.

How to Fix When PC Won’t Turn on After Build

After checking the PC primarily, the error may remain. In this case, you need a proper guideline to resolve it. Here is some good news for you whatever the reasons are, the error is solvable. Let’s have a glimpse of the eye on the list first-

  • Fix 1: Ensure Sufficient Power
  • Fix 2: Check Monitor Connection
  • Fix 3: Observe the Beep Sound
  • Fix 4: Remove Unusual USB Devices
  • Fix 5: Reseat the PC Components

Fix 1: Ensure Sufficient Power

When the error still exists after preliminary checking, you will have to ensure sufficient power at first. Scarcity of required power can be the reason for the error occurring.

Check all the power points, evaluate the power supply according to the usage component, and ensure the power transmission fluency.

If you nothing found with this fact from your side, you will need to move to the next.

Fix 2: Check Monitor Connection

Carefully check the monitor connection. Sometimes, the monitor needs to be turned on manually, but you do not notice this somehow. In this case, the PC won’t start.

According to the many case studies, you may relate your position with the fact. It seems a small matter for the big problem, but truly, it happens to many users. So, you should check the connection thoroughly.

Fix 3: Observe the Beep Sound

When you try to turn on your newly built PC, you have to observe the beep sound. Many times, it can help you to understand the real happening. If you hear any beep sound from your PC, you can analyze the probable reason according to what kind of sound you exactly hear.

If you hear an unfamiliar sound, try to relate with the recommended sound signal manual and take initiative to solve the error by following the manufacturer’s guidelines. Or take the help of a technician.

Fix 4: Remove Unusual USB Devices

When you see your PC fails to turn on completely after attempting to do so, you may need to remove unusual USB devices. Sometimes, USB devices are really a matter. It can be an issue from your side too.

So, if you face the discussed error, you will have to remove the USB devices before pressing the power button. Hopefully, your PC will turn on. But in cases, it doesn’t, you will have the last option to try.

Fix 5: Reseat the PC Components

When you do not get help from the upper fixes, you will have to reseat the PC components again. It can resolve the issue. Before applying this fix, follow your manufacturer’s PC setup guidelines. You can also take the technician’s help to get rid of the error after trying probable DIY methods.

Final Words

In brief, you would check the RAM slot and other power connections first when the PC won’t turn on after the build. In case, if you feel any hesitation to apply the fixes by yourself, I will recommend you to take the support of the technician lastly.
