10 MS Response Time Gaming | Is 10 MS Response Time a Big Issue While Gaming?

February 7, 2022 by Jim Eddy

We have often been bombarded with a lot of mumbo-jumbo technical specs while buying a new monitor. Aside from specifications like display resolution, bit rate, display response time is also an important spec.

10 MS Response Time Gaming – Is It Good?

What Is the Display Response Time?

Display response time is the time your display takes to change from one color of its pixels to another. While measuring response rate it generally measured from pure black to pure white or gray to gray. Modern computers are pretty fast, so this response time is very small and it is usually in the millisecond range.

However, response time is not usually noticeable because it is the measurement of the internal workings of your devices. Which is how much time your display takes to respond after getting a signal from your computer

Is 10 MS Response Time a Big Issue While Gaming?

This question is a bit tricky to answer. The lower the response rate the better your gaming experience will be. For example, monitors with a 1ms response time are quite popular in the e-sports community. For competitive gaming people usually prefers displays with 1-5 MS response time. High response time can show high-resolution image quality with little to no blurring at all.  But 10 MS response times is enough for a normal day-to-day gaming experience. Most of the TV has the same response time. So, if you are not into serious e-sports or competitive gaming, 10 MS response time is quite good.

If you focus on too much low response time instead of refresh rate, your display will lose a frame or may fall victim to frame ghosting.

To Sum Up

So, display response time alone is not a big deal. You need to keep an eye out for a high refresh rate also. Unless, you are a serious e-sports gamer and play multiplayer, battle royale-type games.
