This issue may be frustrating when you are in the middle of any task. Yet, you can resolve this by simply tinkering with a few settings. High temperature and power source are the main reason behind continuous turning on and off your computer. There are so many other culprits, though.

This article will walk you through the most common causes and the solutions. Let’s see the solutions.

High Temperature 

Every computer has an auto shut-off feature. When any part of the computer gets too hot, the computer shuts down automatically. This mechanism works to prevent the damaging of the computer operating system. Because exceeding a particular temperature may fail, burn and even melt and cause massive harm to the whole part of your pc.  

Solution 

Generally, this happens when the pc is overloaded. Besides, when the fans stop working, it gets over-heated.  

When your pc turns on and off repeatedly, hold your hand against the ventilation grill and examine the airflow. If you find any difficulties with airflow, replace or repair the fan. 

Power Source and Connections 

Sometimes difficulties with PSU(Power Supply), the battery, power cables, and charger may shut down your computer. Besides, when the area’s standard voltage settings do not match the electricity supply capacity, the computer stops operating the system. 

Moreover, if your PSU does not work precisely, it cannot transfer electricity to the motherboard. Inconsequence pc turns off to protect your hardware.  

PSU dysfunction is another potential cause for your random computer shutdowns. 

If your PSU doesn’t work accordingly, it can’t transfer electricity to the motherboard, and your PC turns off to protect your hardware. 

Solution 

Examine the power cable and charger cables for possible damages. And if you find any, replace the wire cable.  

Check all the wires inside your computer case. Besides, make sure that all the wires and power sources are perfectly appointed.

RAM 

Sometimes, the reason behind the random shutdown is your memory. And the only remedy for this issue is to open the case and pull out and push the RAM module(s) again its case precisely. 

Solution 

At first, pull the ejection clips to pop the memory module out of its place. After that, hold the memory between your hand and put it back into the case. Repeat the process for each module and ensure that all the modules match the corresponding colors. After doing all the procedures, make sure all the clamps are closed. And ensure that the modules are in place.  

Motherboard 

Difficulties with the motherboard may be responsible for regular shutting off your computer. These issues can be solved by only replacing the entire motherboard. Yet, this process may be a little pricey at the same time.  

Solution 

If you find any difficulties with your motherboard, replacing it is the only option. Despite replacing process being a little pricey, it can fix your continuous shutting-off issues. 

Virus and Malware 

If you do not find any difficulties with your hardware, search for software-related issues. Some malicious software and viruses can alter your computer’s settings. Besides, this can wreak havoc on its operating system and cause random shutdowns.  

Solution 

To resolve virus-related issues, go to the search option and search “Virus and Threat Protection.” After that click on “Advanced Scan” and select “Full Scan” to investigate the whole system for any infection. After completing the process, delete identified threats. Then restart your computer and check whether any issues still exist or not. Moreover, if you use any third-party antivirus program, make sure that the program is reliable and upgrade it to the latest version.

Obsolete BIOS 

BIOS(Basic Input Output System) is firmware that is used to boot your computer. It fails to initialize your windows properly when it becomes out-of-date. Look for any BIOS updates as a quick solution. Besides, be conscious while updating your BIOS as it is a technical procedure. Otherwise, it may cause permanent harm to your system.  

Solution 

Download the newest BIOS version from your motherboard manufacturer’s website. After that, follow a tutorial to install the updates step by step. Or else, ask for a professional to help it out. 

Conclusion 

If your computer faces continuous turning on and off issues, try to find out the reason first. After finding, check whether you can solve it or not. But it is better to go to a professional in the first place as an inconsiderable mistake can hamper the whole system of your computer.
