ASUS GTX 1080 Ti Founders vs ROG Strix GTX Graphics Card | Is Strix a Superior GPU?

Last Updated on June 10, 2023 by Jim Eddy Leave a Comment

Between the two GPUs of ASUS GTX 1080 Ti Founders Edition and ASUS ROG Strix GTX Ti OC Edition, the Strix will be faster and cooler than the Founders right out of the box. The Founders edition can almost reach that speed after trying, but it will get too hot and loud while doing it.

ASUS GTX 1080 Ti Founders vs ROG GTX Strix – Similarities and Dissimilarities

Some of us want the fastest graphics card, some are searching for the best GPU at a given price or any other feature. For the best gaming experience, the balance of price, performance, the efficiency of the graphics card is very crucial because no other parts impact the quality of the visual experience as much as a GPU does.

Strix and Founders graphics cards are two top-notch GPUs with some differences in their characteristics. Let’s see how they differ depending on various parameters.

Size

In the case of size, everyone prefers the graphics card with the smaller dimension because it assures easy maneuverability. The Ti Founders edition is smaller in size and more compact than the Strix graphics cards.

GPU Clock Speed

GPU clock speed indicates how fast the cores of a graphic processing unit are. The function of these cores is to render graphics, therefore, the higher the clock speed, the faster the processing. For the ROG Strix version, the clock speed is faster than the Ti Founders edition, thus Strix is better for the better visual experience.

Pixel Rate

Pixel rate refers to the number of pixels that a GPU can render onto a screen every second. Digital images are made out of pixels, thus, the higher the pixel rate, the better screen resolutions the GPU provides. The Strix edition demonstrates superior screen quality than that of the Ti Founders edition.

Floating-Point Performance

We can know the raw processing power of the GPU from the floating-point performance. The Strix GPU provides higher floating-point performance than the Founders Edition.

Texture Rate

The tasks of the texture rate are the same as pixel rates, Strix is superior in this feature too.

GPU Turbo

If the GPU is running below its limitations, you can get increased performance by boosting it to a higher clock speed which refers to GPU turbo speed. The Strix edition of the graphics card has a higher turbo speed than the Founders Edition.

Effective Memory Speed

From the size and data rate of the memory, the effective memory speed is calculated. If the effective memory speed is higher, it can provide increased performance in games and other apps. Strix and Founders have almost the same effective memory speed where the Strix version is a bit better.

Multi-Display Technology

Graphics cards with multi-display technology allow you to configure multiple monitors at the same time to provide a wider field view for a quality gaming experience or a larger workspace for working with multiple apps.

Both the Ti Founders and Strix supports multi-display technology but the Founders edition supports only 3 displays, whereas the Strix edition support 5 display at the same time.

Multi-GPU

If you use more than one GPU in parallel, you can experience superior performance. The GeForce Founders edition supports 4 GPUs at the same time, whereas the Strix supports only 2 GPUs.

Price

ASUS Founders GPUs are costlier than the ASUS Strix graphics cards.

Final Verdict

From the comparison between the 1080 Ti Founders vs Strix graphics cards, we can conclude that the Strix is the best in performance. However, if you want a compact GPU or want to work with multiple graphics cards in parallel, you better go for the GeForce Ti Founders GPU.
